Sila Lua is an artist born in Vigo and raised in Madrid, where she now lives, after spending several years in London, where she graduated with honours in Music Production from the University of Westminster (2016–2019).
Her early songs already showed the conceptual nature of his lyrics and his ability to construct a visual and aesthetic universe around his music. These songs resulted in two EPs – “The Black Door” (2019) and “Vía” (2020) – and several singles, including “DÍMELO” (2021), the last one before releasing “ROMPE”, his debut album, which was released on 4 November 2022.
Sila Lua had already made a name for herself thanks to two of her songs, “Nada” and “Quiero Llorar”, being included on the soundtrack for the fourth season of the Netflix series “Élite”. Shortly afterwards, he was commissioned to create the original song for the Atresplayer series La Edad De La Ira (The Age of Anger), entitled Tanta Vida (So Much Life) and included in ROMPE.
Produced in collaboration with Mumbai Moon, ROMPE includes 11 songs about the sea. Some connect with the artist’s Galician roots and experiences. In others, the marine presence manifests itself as a great wave or a storm, bursting forth in search of space, freedom and self-affirmation. The album won the Martín Códax Award 2023, Galicia’s most important music award, for best urban music album. The video for the album’s title track, “Rompe”, was nominated for Best Video: Newcomer at the 2023 UK Music Video Awards.
In 2023, “ROMPE TOUR” included 22 dates, with stops at festivals such as Mad Cool (Madrid), O Son do Camiño (Santiago de Compostela) and Riverland (Arriondas, Asturias). In 2024, the artist gave 16 concerts, offering a new take on some of the songs included in “ROMPE TOUR” and previews of her second album. This proposal took her to Mallorca Live Fest, Cruïlla (Barcelona), Atlantic Pride (A Coruña), DESC (Murcia) and El Náutico de San Vicente (O Grove, Pontevedra). In May of the same year, he accompanied Elliot Moss on his Mexican tour – Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara. He also participated in various international festivals: ESNS (Groningen, Netherlands), Sound City (Liverpool, UK), The Great Escape (Brighton, UK) and Iceland Airwaves (Reykjavík, Iceland).
Her second album, Danzas de Amor y Veneno, was released on 17 January 2025 and presented that same day at Sala El Sol in Madrid, as part of Inverfest. The album talks about the duality of life, the ups and downs of emotions, and the clash between dreams and reality.
Produced alongside Pau Aymí, “Danzas de Amor y Veneno” is an open-minded pop album with a strong electronic foundation and an original combination of the great traditions of Latin and African music. Sila Lua also offers more complex and gentle vocal melodies, which shine alongside more danceable rhythms.
Sila Lua has recorded music videos for three of the songs included in “Danzas de Amor y Veneno”. One of them, “BRASIL”, directed by La Niña and produced by Smile, has received several international awards: Best Cinematography at the 2024 Europe Music Video Awards, and Best Dance Music Video, Best Pop Music Video and Best Make-up at the 2025 IMVA (International Music Video Awards).
